I love grass, roots & hoppers
grass, roots & hoppers is a logical extension of what we do. We write, we get involved in human development initiatives – sex, drugs and culture – and we cook some of the best food this side of the Brazilian rainforest. Get in touch if you’re in Sri Lanka and you want us to do food. We love food, and we know you will love our food too.
We have partnered with Margie’s Kitchen, and Margie’s Kitchen has always known how to make taste buds dance a happy jig. Margie’s Kitchen will bring you food you’ve not seen for decades. Old crumpled recipes unearthed. The Burgher Lamprais is a great example. No boiled eggs, chicken legs and rice to feed a family of ten. The Burgher Lamprais is an intricate treasure casket of all that is good about Sri Lankan food.
Margie’s Kitchen is also the only place you will find a Chocolate Arrack Cake. Need we say more.
grass, roots & hoppers will also bring you some of the most innovative approaches to life’s favourite recipes. For example we bottle virgin olive oil with the Naga Chilly. Dip warm pieces of French bread in that and be transported to wherever your happy place is. We also put bacon in almost everything. Yes, pigs are slaughtered. No halal chicken here.
In the coming weeks we will be adding a bungalow in the middle of nowhere to our list of services through grass, roots
& hoppers. It’s over a hundred years old, and it is set amidst 130 acres of coconut. We hope to make it the barbeque capital of Sri Lanka.
Come join us people. We guarantee you will enjoy the trip.
